The Phaestos Disc was discovered at Knossos in 1908 at the ancient Minoan palace in Heraklion, Crete. The mysterious 242 hieroglyphs date to approx 1500 BC and constitute  evidence of the earliest moveable and transortable type, perhaps our earliest book!

Various attepts at interpretations of the lost language drawn on the disc include hymns to love goddesses, a fertilty ritual and even musical scores.
